My August 27 comment was worded a bit strongly :-)

When we're talking 5K<--->FEX links, TwinAx offers no benefit over fiber and has the following limitations:
- short reach
- difficult to work with
- bulky
- limited availability (compared to MMF patch cords)
- requires direct runs (can't use patch panels)chris margethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09716555871346949419noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3266263034124005485.post-56904956430123122382011-11-14T18:32:47.636+00:002011-11-14T18:32:47.636+00:00why do you hate twinax? seems to work just fine?why do you hate twinax? seems to work just fine?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3266263034124005485.post-64258517703953214402011-10-19T00:20:34.135+01:002011-10-19T00:20:34.135+01:00I wouldn't use anything other than FET to upli...I wouldn't use anything other than FET to uplink a fabric extender these days.

TwinAx is still a good (cost effective) choice for many non-FEX interconnections.chris margethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09716555871346949419noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3266263034124005485.post-41421996947633972442011-10-18T23:40:44.170+01:002011-10-18T23:40:44.170+01:00Great Article! You can use the following modules for that interconnection:
SR (multimode)
LR (singlemode)
CU (twinax up to 10m)
FET (multimode for 22xx only - not supported by 2148T)

The best choice is the FET unless you need to run over 100m. If you use twinax, you'll learn to hate it quickly.chris margethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09716555871346949419noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3266263034124005485.post-18557431794483531652011-08-27T07:15:11.725+01:002011-08-27T07:15:11.725+01:00I came across this blog while investigating if it ...I came across this blog while investigating if it is possible to use regular SFP-10G-SR simple copper twinax to connect between the 5000 and 2000. I appreciate if you have any information you can share.Sharon Besserhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11388859968281367969noreply@blogger.com
